GPS Container Depot West (Lethbridge) - December 2024
On December 7th we recognized the incredible impact that the GPS Depots in Lethbridge, owned by Doug and Brian Eakett, have on their community. The Applaud event brought together staff, local dignitaries, and customers.
The Applaud, sent in by one of the customers of GPS Container Depot - West, Ian, said “They have made it very welcoming to run a team fundraiser. GPS West’s customer service has gone above and beyond.”
Ian wasn’t the only customer who benefitted from the exceptional service and support provided by the hard-working team at the Depot. In 2023 the GPS Depots facilitated bottle drives with over 125 local community groups, amounting to over $130,000 which allowed a variety of initiatives to occur; from the purchase of uniforms for sports teams, to allowing dance groups to travel. As if this wasn’t a big enough accomplishment on its own, they also fundraised an additional $57,000 for the local Food Banks.
While the role the Depots play in supporting the success of the community is the main point of pride for Brian Eakett, the environmental impact the Depots have is also significant. Combined, the two locations diverted over 1.65 million kgs of recyclable materials from the landfill last year.
On the day of the event Mark Campbell, Lethbridge City Councillor, joined Brian and Ian for a tour of the Depot (pictured).
