Drumheller Bottle Depot - August 2018

The Applaud a Depot draw for August was won by a customer of the Drumheller Bottle Depot. Wendy said that the staff at the Depot are “super friendly! Fast and efficient! Always willing to help you.” This sentiment has been shared by other customers since the Applaud a Depot program was introduced, so it was a great opportunity to celebrate the work of the Depot’s staff.

The Drumheller Bottle Depot is operated by the Drumheller and Region Transition Society (DARTS), and also partners with other charities in the area to offer container donation bins around town for residents to conveniently donate to these agencies. DARTS offers a variety of services for individuals with special needs in the community and provides opportunities for individuals to work or volunteer in the Depot as well, which allows them to gain work experience and skills to carry on to other facets of life.

A number of special guests joined Depot staff at the event, including The Honourable Kevin Sorenson (MP for Battle River – Crowfoot), Patrick Turnbull (Assistant to MLA Rick Strankman), Deputy Mayor Kristyne DeMott, and Town Councillor Tom Zariski. The support of local government officials was appreciated by the Depot, and the group enjoyed lunch together during a break from serving customers.
